The Heart of the College

Welcome to the Resource Centre – the lively heart in the centre of the College Campus.

Whatever your reading needs may be - we can supply them.

We have a very wide range of information books for all ages and abilities for hobbies and general interest in addition to supporting the National Curriculum.

Our ICT Area has computers with permanent Internet access and we offer a wide selection of information CD-Rom's. Why not come in to keep in touch with local and international news from our range of newspapers on offer or browse through our collection of general interest magazines?

Do you enjoy reading classics stories or crime stories or cartoon stories?
Would you prefer historical stories or horse stories or horror stories?
Do you need a long novel to get lost in or a quick read to fill that lunchtime gap?
We have story books for every taste and requirement!

Our Video and DVD collection is always very popular and includes classic book adaptations as well as rattling good family viewing. We also have range of information videos which are a great way to discover more about history or the world around us.

In our Centre we hold Book Fairs, Book Sales, Poetry Readings, Story Telling Sessions as well as staging competitions, exhibitions and displays. We support various charities including Readathon, Macmillan Nurses and the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline Charity and we commemorate Remembrance Day and Anne Frank Day.

You will find us open every day including morning and lunchbreaks. We are particularly pleased to be able to offer everyone the use of the Resource Centre after school until 4.30pm on Mondays to Thursdays.

Every new student joining the College becomes a member of the Resource Centre. At the beginning of Year the College Librarian runs a full Induction Course covering all aspects of the Centre for all Year 7 students. This includes an introduction to essential information handling skills.

We run the School Link Book Club which is enormously popular with students and the families, and the Scholastic Cover2Cover Book Club.

We are in short the place where it all happens!
