Standards of Dress/School Uniform

Introduction

We have a distinctive uniform which is serviceable and helps to establish a College identity and a sense of community. The items have been chosen with the welfare and safety of students in mind. We believe that it is important that students should learn to present themselves well and all are expected to conform to the agreed standard set out below.

Girls' Uniform

Blazer Compulsory Year 7, 8, 9 & 10. Optional Year 11. Beau Brummel Girls Viscount SS29T in black with College badge #

Blouse

Plain white with pointed collars and long or short sleeves.

Tie

College Tie Years 7-10; #
Year Tie for Year 11.

Pullover

Plain ‘V’ necked, long sleeves style ‘Severn’, Royal blue may be worn in cold weather not summer uniform (Optional)
A grey jumper (Year 11 only)

Skirt

"A" line grey skirt style - Banner SSK140 3540

Socks/Hose

With skirt, plain white ankle socks or plain black tights (minimum 40 denier).
With trousers, black or dark grey ankle socks.

Shoes

Full sensible, low-heeled, in plain black or dark brown - not suede, no platform soles. Heel should be no higher than 5cm

Coat

Outdoor coat of plain subdued colour, not leather or denim and without a logo.

* Please note that it is the responsibility of the parents and not the teachers to provide the appropriate health and safety equipment for sports activities. A disclaimer is available from the college if you will be allowing your children to take part without the relevant equipment

Other Points to Note

  • No jewellery is allowed except that if ears are pieced then one stud is acceptable in each lower ear lobe.
  • Any clothing worn under a white shirt must be plain white.
  • In wet weather, if boots or wellingtons are worn coming to school they must be changed on arrival.
  • It is unacceptable for students to dye their hair, present themselves with extreme hair fashions of the day, wear make-up or wear a piercing in the nose, tongue or eyebrow.
  • Valuable items of equipment should not be brought to school. Radios, Tape Recorders, CD/DVD Players, MP3 Players, Video Cameras, Cameras are not required in school and should be left at home. Mobile Phones are allowed but should be switched off throughout the school day.
  • On arrival at the College all students are provided with text books and exercise books. These, together with library books, remain the property of the College and must be replaced by the students if lost or damaged.
  • All students have use of a locker free of charge, but payment must be made for a replacement if a key is lost or vandalism occurs.
