Welcome to Community Education

Lifelong Learning Opportunities at your Local College

Lodeside Entrance

Foreword

As usual our programme includes a range of courses with some leading to a qualification, others not. Classes are held at Bottisham Village College, Burwell Village College, Soham Village College & City of Ely Community College.

There continue to be challenges in terms of substantial budget cuts in some areas of our funding which has had to be reflected in our fees this year. However, we are proud that we have managed to continue our rich range of courses as well as keeping fee increases to a minimum. We have made efforts to ensure that there is something for everyone and warmly welcome the continued encouragement from our local communities in the support for adult and community provision.
Please do spend some time looking through our brochure, our office teams will be delighted to provide you with further information and enrol you on your chosen programme.

We are proud of our vibrant and busy Community Education programme at Soham Village College. This website outlines the range of opportunities available and I do hope that you will find at least one course of interest, either in order to gain a new skill or qualification, or indeed just to have fun! Indeed, feedback from adults on courses often quotes meeting new friends as one of the most enjoyable aspects of joining a course.

If you need any further information do ring the Community Education Office on 01353 722297 or alternatively E-Mail: . It would also help if you could let us know if there is a course which you would like to follow which we do not currently offer. We are meant to be here to serve.

During 2007 the College has invested in it's ICT provision and purchased ‘state of the art’ computer equipment. This included video conferencing, data projectors, digital cameras, scanners and electronic whiteboards to compliment our computer suites. We will be offering free taster sessions to anyone interested in using these items and if you would like to find out more, please contact the community office. It is our intention to offer a ‘centre of excellence’ for Community ICT. These facilities would be available for business use as well as individuals.

I hope you take time to look through the rest of the Community Education Website and hopefully sign up for a course or two…If your area of interest is not covered please contact us as we may be able to refer you on to other local provision.
