Course Enrolments & Fees

Enrolments

If you would like to reserve or book a place on any of the courses we are offering, contact or visit the Community Education Office. It is always advisable to pre-book your course to avoid disappointment. Reservations can be made in person at the Community Education Office after 1st September 2008 or by telephone or post beforehand. There is a registration fee of £10 payable on enrolment (cheques should be payable to SVC Community Education). All places are allocated on a first come first served basis. Although if there is sufficient demand we will endeavour to run additional classes.

  • By Telephone: Please call the relevant College

  • In Person: Come to the relevant College. Enrolments will be made on a "first come" basis. Places are limited in some areas therefore early enrolment and payment is required to avoid disappointment.

  • By Post: Use the form in the brochure and send it with the course fee to the relevant College. Credit/Debit cards only accepted at Bottisham, Burwell & Soham Village Colleges.

  • By E-Mail: E-Mail with full details of the course you wish to enrol on, your name and daytime telephone number.


Information Evenings

Alternatively come to our Enrolment Evenings and meet our tutors and learn more about our courses. Some courses fill very quickly, so please don't wait to enrol. Our offices are open from the week commencing 1st September 2008. If you leave your Enrolment until these evenings the course you require may be FULL.

 - Tuesday 9th September 2008 from 4.00pm - 7.00pm (General Enrolements Only)

City of Ely Community College

 - Thursday 11th September 2008 from 7.00pm - 9.00pm -  (ESOL Enrolement Only)

Please note that not all tutors attend our information evenings and that some courses may have filled up before September 2008. To avoid disappointment please reserve your place as early as possible and contact the Community Education Office to check that the relevant tutor will be attending the information evening.

Course Fees

Concessions are available on most courses.

The fees are clearly marked against each of the courses listed in the brochure. Concessions (fees in brackets) are available but evidence of entitlement is required at enrolment or before. If you are eligible for a concession you will only be required to pay the course registration fee for each course you enrol on, which is a contribution to your materials, equipment and administration. The following categories are entitled to concessions:

Council Tax Benefit
Housing Benefit
Asylum-seeker receiving equivalent of an income-based benefit
Pension Guarantee Credit
Jobseeker's Allowance
Working Tax Credit (with a gross household income of less than £15,050)
Child Tax Credit
Unwaged dependant of those listed above
Aged 16-18 (GCSE, A-levels, NVQs and some courses leading to qualifications)
Aged 19+ and enrolling on many of our Level 2 & 3 qualifications (please call for more information)

Please call one of our offices for further information regarding concessions. Evidence of eligibility for concessionary fees will be required.

FREE Courses - If you do not currently hold a full Level 2 qualification (i.e. 5 GCSE's grade A-C, or a Level 2 NVQ) you may be entitled to a FREE NVQ qualification. Please contact the Bottisham office for further details.

Students who wish to try a class before enrolling may do so at a cost of £5 per hour. Subject to places available.

REFUNDS
We will not normally give refunds unless a course is cancelled or there are exceptional circumstances.

Disability Discrimination Act

We welcome disabled people and those with support needs, learning difficulties and medical conditions such as wheelchair users, people with mental health difficulties, epilepsy, dyslexia, deaf and partially sighted. Our brochure is available in alternative formats and we can provide a leaflet outlining the range of support we offer. We also offer confidential interviews to discuss support available.

Data Protection

The information you provide on enrolment forms will be passed to the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). The LSC is registered under the Data Protection Act 1998. The registration is primarily for the collection and analysis of statistical data. The LSC will collect and share this information with other organisations for the purpose of administration, careers and other guidance, statistical and research purposes. This will allow the LSC and its partners to monitor performance, improve quality and plan future provision.

Insurance

Neither the College nor the Local Education Authority (LEA) can accept liability for accidents other than those covered by their Public Liability Insurance. Students and visitors are advised to make their own arrangements if they require insurance cover against accidents where no negligence by the College or the Local Education Authority arises. All vehicles are parked at the owners' risk.
